Copper+

Rezi has not only largely introduced microfibre cleaning textiles to households and industry, but has also constantly developed the cleaning products further and continuously brought innovative products to the market. A few years ago, Rezi's vision was to further functionalise cleaning textiles, i.e. to add another benefit to the cleaning cloths. 

Since Rezi has been producing cleaning products made of copper since the 1950s and therefore knows the advantages and benefits of copper very well, research was carried out using copper as a material to improve the fibre properties of the microfibre cloths. The aim was to develop a textile that, through the use of copper pigments, increases the performance of the fibres in such a way that both bacteria and viruses are trapped and neutralised.
 
In cooperation with the University of Innsbruck, the Copper+ cleaning cloths were developed, which are treated with tiny - non-scratching - copper pigments over the entire surface in a patented process. When the cleaning cloths are moistened with water, these copper pigments release ions that inactivate the bacteria and viruses they absorb. With these special microfibre wipes, the high cleaning performance is thus extended to bacteria and viruses, removing dirt and, depending on the surface, up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses with a simple wipe. Over 99.9% of the bacteria and viruses picked up by the Copper+ wipes can be retained in the wipe and inactivated. 

Compared to conventional cleaning cloths, the risk of infection, the spread of germs and unpleasant odours is significantly reduced. Another decisive advantage is that the refined microfibres immediately absorb the bacteria and viruses, leaving behind a clean and hygienic surface. When disinfectant chemistry is used, on the other hand, a disinfectant film often remains on the surfaces and takes up to a minute to take effect. 

Thanks to the enormous cleaning power of these special ultra-fine microfibres and the refinement with copper pigments, the Copper+ cleaning cloths clean with water only. Simple, cost-effective and environmentally conscious hygiene with one wipe. 

The patented process dispenses with disinfection chemistry and nanotechnology and works in an environmentally friendly way using only water.

The effectiveness of the Copper+ cleaning wipes has been confirmed, among others, by the Medical University of Innsbruck (Section for Hygiene and Medical Microbiology), Weber & Leucht GmbH Application Lab, Dr. Brünke MTC, Eurovir Hygiene-Labor GmbH, OFI Technologie & Innovation GmbH and Institut Hohenstein Laboratories GmbH & Co. KG have confirmed.

Copper+ by rezi wins the Innovation Award 2021 of the province of Vorarlberg and is nominated for the State Award Innovation 2021. "The jury recognises the extensive research effort for the further development of a supposedly simple product, the functioning interaction between science and industry and the fact that the replacement of chemicals as a result of the use of the antimicrobial effect of copper results in the conservation of environmental resources with the Innovation Award 2021."
